Silver Moth
We make things worth remembering.
Silver Moth is an independent game studio. The studio is a permanent frame; its games are worlds inside it, each with its own atmosphere. The first world, Lantern Hour, is a psychological horror game now in development.
- Silver Moth is the frame.
- Its games are the worlds.
- This site is the living record of the studio.
The studio contains its worlds without becoming any single one of them. A world may bring its own light, its own colour, its own typography and sound; the frame around it stays the same, so that a second world can arrive without the studio redesigning itself.
The work is measured against a short list, in this order: meaning, usability, identity, accessibility, content, performance — and only then spectacle. What that has to feel like:
- precise
- artistic
- cinematic
- intelligent
- tactile
- quiet when necessary
- monumental when necessary
- mysterious without becoming unclear
- premium without becoming sterile
- experimental without becoming confusing
- contemporary without chasing trends
- slightly strange
- highly intentional
Nothing here is meant to resolve. The studio works inside these pairs and keeps both ends alive.
- BLACK / LIGHT
- STATIC / MOTION
- EDITORIAL / CINEMATIC
- PRECISION / EMOTION
- STUDIO / WORLD
- SILENCE / SIGNAL
The studio is carbon, graphite, silver and bone. Colour belongs to the worlds: the only warmth on this site is amber, and it is Lantern Hour's own light. No world's colour is allowed to settle permanently on the studio.
On the homepage the frame is told once, in one shot: the studio's horizon comes loose as silver dust, the dust falls through the dark, and it condenses on the first light of a world.
